Preparing Emotionally to Leave the Nest

Transitioning to adulthood can be emotionally stressful for a variety of reasons. So preparing emotionally before that transition can help decrease the stress. One of the ways to prepare emotionally before leaving the nest is to create an emotional transition plan.

An Emotional transition plan includes the following

  1. Situations that have cause emotional struggles in the past

  2. Self Management Strategies

  3. Social Supports

  4. Skills for the future

  5. What is most important
